Winter is upon us and you may not feel like getting out and being Active Calderdale in the cold, but there is still a lot you can do in the garden. Being active will make you feel good physically and mentally and keep you warm too!
Another great way to be active with your friends, family and grandchildren is to take part in ‘parkrun’ and here’s a bit of information that might be news to you.
Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs all over the world. They are open to everyone, totally free, organised by a group of local volunteers, held in pleasant parkland surroundings and everyone whether young or old, male or female, fit or unfit, able-bodied or not is always welcome. It’s not about racing, it’s about running at your own pace.
We have 2 parkruns in Calderdale, one at Shroggs Park in Halifax and the other at Wellholme Park in Brighouse. Both start at 9am every Saturday. We also have a new Junior parkrun starting at Wellholme Park in Brighouse on Sunday 17 December at 9am. Junior parkrun is a 2k run for juniors aged 4-14 years old and will take place on Sunday mornings at 9am.
